Equistro Mega Base Junior is a liquid complementary feed specially developed for suckling foals, weanlings, and young horses. It provides essential minerals, trace elements, and vitamins in optimal proportions to support the healthy development of the musculoskeletal system.

The mineral and trace element content is designed to support the most intensive growth phase.

Calcium(Ca) 11 %, Phosphorus(P) 5,5 %, Magnesium (Mg) 0,9 %, Ash 37 %, Water 48%

Zinc: 550 mg 

Manganese: 275 mg 

Copper: 210 mg 

Selenium (organic): 19 mg 

Vitamin A: 10,000 IU 

Vitamin D3: 1,520 IU

Dosage depends on the horse’s age and breed size. 

Warmbloods and large breeds (approx. 500 kg adult weight) 

Broodmares: Before foaling (when the udder begins to fill) 20–40 ml daily 

Foals (4–7 weeks): 20 ml twice per week 

Foals (8–11 weeks): 20 ml three times per week 

Young horses (12 weeks →): 20–40 ml daily 

Smaller breeds 

Medium-sized breeds (e.g. Haflinger, Appaloosa): ½ of the above doses 

Small breeds (e.g. Icelandic horse, Shetland pony): ¼ of the above doses 

Important note: Due to the high trace element content,  the daily dose must not exceed 40 ml per 100 kg body weight. 

With a 20 ml dose, one bottle provides 50 servings. 

Practical Tip 

Mega Base Junior can be conveniently administered with a  dosing syringe directly into the foal’s mouth if it does not yet consume  significant amounts of concentrate feed. This ensures the foal receives all  necessary nutrients even before weaning. 

At what age can Mega Base Junior be given to foals? 

Supplementation can begin at 4 weeks of age.  Initially, the product is given twice per week,  with frequency increasing as the foal grows. 

Why is a liquid form better for foals? 

Suckling foals often consume only small amounts of  concentrate feed, which makes it difficult to administer  powdered minerals. The liquid form is easy to administer  directly into the mouth and is quickly absorbed. 

Can the product be given to pregnant mares? 

Yes. It is even recommended to give the product  shortly before foaling (when the udder begins to fill)  to ensure the mare’s body and colostrum are in optimal  condition for the foal’s birth. 

Does this product replace other mineral supplements? 

Mega Base Junior is a complementary feed. If the young horse  already consumes large amounts of commercial growth feed,  the total mineral intake should be checked to avoid exceeding  upper limits of trace elements (especially selenium). 

How should the product be stored? 

Store in a cool place protected from light.  Close the cap carefully and shake the bottle before each use.
